s not a policy bill, it's a bill about tweaking the existing policy. Giving everyone a priority date based on his/her date of the arrival to the states is to admit that H1b visa is an immigrant visa, which is not. Don't push an envelope too hard, it might backfire in the most unusual way.

Let's push that on through. We can later on use our imaginations to solve any �bigger" immigration issues.

It would have been amazing if senator added 10K for each recaptured EB VISA. That would have given 1B dollars for the border security(If only senator wanted to help the so called product developing H1Bs).

I closed on dec 27. Underwriter asked me about green card. I just sent EAD copy front and back as well as AP and explained to him that EAD is like learners driving permit that is issued when your GC is under process. :D

IV Core,
What is IV's position on ammendents for people who have filed PERM only and have not filed I-140 yet.
There shall be an ammendement which allows these people to keep using old system(EB) to get their green card.
It is totally un-fair to null and void their application and get them into new point based systems and force them to face long delays.
Please let us know.

If somebody is sending this letter, please do not send it without taking care of word-suggested corrections. There are too many green lines, most of the times because of spacing between two words.
OP - My intention is not to offend you but to point out the need for improvement in the document.
Don't worry! EB-3 is supposed to be low-skilled so nobody is going to frown at grammatical or typographical errors. :)

Yesterday I went to the Local INS office after making an infopass appointment. Requested the IO to expedite my AP he looked at current processing dates for Nebraska Center Aug 15 I applied on July 20 INS process date on receipt notice August 25. He told me they would start looking at my case soon. I mentioned to him I need it expedited he asked why I showed him a letter from employer that I needed to travel outside us he said its not life death emergency. I insisted that if i didn't go I would get fired lose my job, he wait let me check with manager after 20 minutes he came back and said his manager agrees to process as emergency. He took all my original supporting documents and told me he was going to fax them to Nebraska center and also email to them. I mentioned to him that I have to leave by Feb 11 again he went to his manager and he said thats the best I can do. He took my phone number. I have not heard for INS no LUD on my case yet. If i don't leave by feb 17 kiss my job good bye. Anything else you guys recommend i can do. I also faxed the Nebraska center a request expedite still haven't hear or seen anything. :(

This comes as no surprise, as it is most likely related to the July 2007 Visa Bulletin filings. The volume of cases has created a "front log" of cases awaiting initial data entry and issuance of receipt notices. The USCIS advises that the receipt notice delays will not impact eligibility for change of status or extension of status. Cases will be treated as received on their actual receipt dates, even if the receipt notice is delayed. The actual date that the filing was received at the USCIS (receipt date) will appear on the I-797 receipt notice, in addition to a later issuance of the receipt notice (notice date).

You can change the assumption of the calculations. 750,000 are anticipated number of applicants. Now, even if u reduce it by half, i.e. 375,000, the wait could be more than a year long.
Plus we do not know if there are 10 or 100 people working on EAD stuff. Lower this number , longer would be the wait.
I don't believe all 750000 are EAD wannabies!

Someone pointed that AILA recently discussed this issue with cis, and rule is still under development. There was a link posted to a PDF somewhere on this/similar thread. I will try to find and post a link here!
