My I485 application was received at the Texas center on Nov 6th. No receipts yet and checks have not cashed, although the USCIS website says it is current for receipts. Anyone in my situation?

I have EAD, AP and H-1B. I don't have H-1b stamped on my passport. I would like to travel on AP.
According to my lawyer;
"For every paper (AP) you have, you can make one trip with it. So if you have 3 original papers, you make 3 trips in and out of the country."
Is this true? My friends who traveled outside the country were told at the port of entry that AP can be used for multiple entry and the above does not hold true.
Any insight would be appreciated.
thanks in advance

Opponents of Arizona's SB1070 immigration law scored another victory in the courts yesterday. In the case of Friendly House v. Whiting, the court overruled a motion to dismiss the case challenging the law. The judge noted that "Racial discrimination was a motivating factor for [S.B.] 1070s enactment" which establishes a legitimate constitutional challenge to the law. While this is only the opening round in the case, it does suggest that the defenders of the law will have a tough time convincing the judge that the law is constitutional. 10-1061-447 -

Hi All,
Please take couple of secs to finish this poll. No matter what was your case for interview..extension, renewal, first time..when was H1/H4 etc approved..where it was approved..etc etc..nothing matters. All that needs to be tracked is wait time.
As long as New Delhi consulate please do this and this will give an idea for wait times.

HI All,
I am a Canadian Citizen, Previously i worked on H1, Once i got a full time in Canada came back, but did not return I-94, still valid (not expired).
I had my Nexus card Interview, the American Officer checked previous I-94 and asked if i still worked with the same company, i said no. He took back the I-94 and rejected issuing Nexus card. He mentioned, if i was at a port of entry, i would have been banned from entering, but now i cannot touch you because you are not asking to enter USA. He did mention that, this will not effect my Future TN or H1b applications.
Now all i want to ask from you all are
1.Will this effect my future TN or H1.
2. Will US officials stop me from crossing the border
3. Is USCIS/INS going to see this history and effect my future applications like GC or any type of Visas.
Any information is welcome, or can anybody with similar experience share what happened in the past.
Thank you

Is there anyone whose I485 is pending for more than 90 days. My I-485 was sent on July 18th. I called USCIS twice and they are asking me to call them on Oct 17th (when 90 days is completed). They are saying that my appl.n should be in by then. Is there any one whose checks got cleared after 90 days. If not, what did you do about it.

Many of us have had a positive reaction to the TB skin test. So we take an X-ray to confirm we are fine and the doctor mark normal in the chest X-ray section. Pretty routinely done.
Now my spouse had a negative TB skin test, so no X-ray needed. However the physician and my attorney have different views on how to fill out the chest X-ray section of the form. The physician checked nothing in the section and is very adamant about the way he fills out the form. My attorney believes that the NOT DONE box in the section should be checked as he claims that he has seen REFs if the NOT DONE box is not checked. What is your opinion? Appreciate your feedback. Thanks.

Hi,
My wife has a stamped H4 visa & I-94 both are valid through Oct 16th 2008. We have applied H1B for her which got approved somewhere in May 2007.
The Approved H1B documents along with new I-94 is with her employer.
We have some issues with the employer so we are not sure that we can get the H1B & I-94 documents from her employer.
As we also applied for EAD,In the mean time if we receive her EAD card and Travel Document for my wife.
Do we still need her H1B and new I-94 documents from her employer for any reason?
Any advise is well appreciated.
Thanks

Hello all,
I entered US on a valid h4 visa on june 2007.Filed for a h1b on march 2008 and got and stamped h1 on sep 2008.Cud not find job due to recession.Converted back to h4 on oct 2009.I have following questions
1) Is it possible to convert back to H1 or fresh H1 ?
2) will the time period i spent on h4 will be counted for my h1?
3) When i stamped my h1b earlier(oct 2008) it showed validity till sep 2011.Does that mean I have to apply h4 to h1 before that?
4) In case if i get a RFE on converting from h4 to h1 Can i stay back on my existing h4 visa?
5) I havnt ever worked on my H1 will that affect my conversion from h4 to h1 now?
It will be great if you can answer these questions.
Thanks,
Lucky

Page 42 of the study is interesting, where a suggestion is raised for changes to count the time stuck waiting in retrogression towards naturalization. That would only be fair.

Hi:
My full 6 years of H-1B expires in Jan 2010. My labor will be filed in Jan 2009. I would like to go back to school full time on F-1 in Fall 09. At that time, I would still have 5 months of H-1B time remaining plus a priority date. After I graduate, find a job on a new OPT, would it be enough time to start a new GC processing, without having to go back home for a year?
Thanks so much
Debbie

Well this came out of nowhere. Last night the Senate passed an emergency border enforcement bill that provides $600 million for increased security on the southern US border. The $600 million will come from raising fees on staffing companies. The fee will increase by $2250 for each L-1 visa application for companies that employ 50 or more workers if 50% of the workforce is on an H-1B or an L-1. The fee will increase by $2000 for each H-1B application for companies with 50 or more workers with 50% or more in L-1 or H-1B status. That means L-1 fees will...
